Triangle Centroid Calculator

Triangle Centroid Calculator for layout notes, drafting, and classroom geometry when you want a fixed formula answer without improvising the math by hand.

Important Use Notice

Informational calculator only. Verify important outputs independently before legal, tax, medical, engineering, safety-critical, contractual, employment, or compliance use.

Formula

centroid = ((x1+x2+x3)/3, (y1+y2+y3)/3)

Average the three x-coordinates and the three y-coordinates separately.

The centroid is the balance point of the triangle.

Example

1, 1, 7, 1, 4, 7 gives Centroid X 4, Centroid Y 3.

Check

Mixing units, scales, or coordinate conventions across x1, y1, x2, y2, x3, y3 before calculating centroid x and centroid y.
Rounding too early when the result still feeds another geometry or algebra step.
